Letting an AI assistant read and write your notes
Loam is in development. Join the waitlist to hear when it opens.
To give an AI assistant access to your notes, connect an AI app that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to Loam's MCP server. You approve each app and choose what it may do: read notes, write notes or manage sharing. A checkpoint is saved before an agent edits, and agents can never delete a note permanently.
Steps
- Copy Loam’s MCP server address into your AI app’s MCP settings.
- Sign in to Loam when the app asks, and review what it is asking for.
- Approve only the scopes it needs. An app without the sharing scope can never share your notes.
- Ask the app to search, read or write notes. Its edits appear live under its name.
Agent access is part of Loam Pro, US$2.99 a month or US$29.99 a year.
Questions
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets AI apps use tools and data from other services. Loam's MCP server lets an AI app you approve work with your notes.
Can an agent delete my notes?
Agents can move notes to the trash, where you can restore them, but they can never delete a note permanently.
How do I see what an agent changed?
Agent edits appear live, labelled with the agent's name, and a checkpoint is saved before an agent edits, so you can roll back.
