Changelog

What’s new in each release.

1.4.1

Loam for Mac and Linux

Fixed

  • With Apply the theme to the sidebar and note list on, the note list now follows the theme everywhere: the selected note uses the theme’s accent, and hover, search, dates and dividers take the theme’s colours instead of the default ones.
  • The Settings window follows the theme too when that option is on: its sidebar, cards, switches and slider.
1.4.0

Loam for Mac and Linux

New

  • 22 editor themes, up from six, and every one is free. New light themes: Kaolin, Ochre, Rime, Woad, Indigo and Sage. New dark themes: Lampblack (high contrast), Basalt, Jet (true black), Saffron, Shale, Verdigris, Lapis, Heather, Spruce and Walnut. Settings › Appearance shows each one with a preview and a short note, and the arrow keys move through them.
  • With Apply the theme to the sidebar and note list on, the sidebar takes the theme’s own sidebar colours, so Indigo puts a dark indigo sidebar beside a white page.
1.3.0

Loam for Mac and Linux

New

  • Link notes and mention people as you write. Type [[ (or Note link in the formatting toolbar, Format › Note link or ⇧⌘K / Shift+Ctrl+K) and pick a note on this device, even offline. Type @ (or Mention) to pick someone the note is shared with. ⌘-click or Ctrl-click a note link to open it, even after that note is renamed; a link to a missing note offers Create note.
  • Linked from under a note lists the notes that link to it, newest first. It lists only notes you can read and needs a connection.

Fixed

  • The Format menu opened outside the window, so its items couldn’t be seen.
1.2.0

Loam for Mac and Linux

New

  • Insert an image by its web address: Image in the formatting toolbar, or Format › Image…. Paste an https:// address and add a description, which screen readers read out. Selected text becomes the description.

Improved

  • The command palette (⌘K / Ctrl+K) opens every Settings section by name, and understands other words for them: “keys” or “hotkeys” finds Keyboard shortcuts, “billing” or “plan” finds Subscription. The best match comes first, so Return opens it.
  • Settings › Subscription always says how your plan is managed. A Pro plan granted by Loam says so, with no renewal date, and every Pro plan on Loam’s own service has a Contact support button.
1.1.0

Loam for Mac and Linux

New

  • A formatting toolbar at the bottom of the editor: headings, bold, italic, highlight, strikethrough, code, todo, list, quote, link and table. Turn it off in Settings › Editor.
  • Settings › Keyboard shortcuts lists every shortcut: the app’s, the menu bar’s and the editor’s, plus the built-in keys. Search by name or by keys, change a shortcut by pressing the new keys, remove it, or reset one or all. Loam tells you when a key is taken and refuses keys your system keeps. Changes apply at once, in the menus too.

Fixed

  • ⌘U / Ctrl+U now always underlines. It used to undo the last selection change instead when there was one.
  • Settings › Editor shows the right shortcut for Hide Markdown, and the Format menu’s Todo shows the shortcut of what it does.
  • Security: updated dependencies (RUSTSEC-2026-0385, RUSTSEC-2026-0429).
1.0.1

Loam for Mac and Linux

Improved

  • Settings › Subscription has a Manage in Link button for subscriptions bought on the web or in the desktop app. Link handles billing for Loam: sign in there with the email you paid with to change or cancel.
1.0.0

Loam for Android

New

  • Loam is on Google Play, for Android 7.0 or later.
  • Delete your account yourself from Settings › Account › Delete account.
1.0.0

Loam for Mac and Linux

New

  • Loam for desktop is out of beta. 1.0.0 is the first stable release, on macOS (one app for Apple silicon and Intel) and Linux (AppImage).
  • It’s the first desktop release that sells Loam Pro: buy it yearly or monthly, with 14 days free for new subscribers. Start free trial opens checkout in your browser, and Pro turns on in the app as soon as you finish. Restore purchases checks again for a subscription you already have.
0.2.0-beta.2

Loam for Mac and Linux, public beta

Improved

  • Mac builds are signed with Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so the app opens without the “unidentified developer” warning.

Fixed

  • Updated the certificate-verification library used for secure connections (rustls-webpki 0.103.16, RUSTSEC-2026-0382).
1.0.0
